According to Microsoft sources, of the 50-odd partners working on AX, about 50% are in manufacturing (30% discreet and 20% process-based), 40% in services (25% IT/ITES and 15% professional services) and the remaining 10% split across other verticals.

Microsoft is going to adopt a purely vertical-specific approach to develop, customize and market Dynamics AX as opposed to the combination of geographical and vertical approaches used in the case of NAV (formerly Navision), its ERP for SMBs.
